RIVER MURRAY LEVEE BANK REMEDIATION

River Murray Levee Bank Remediation and Upgrade Works – Department for Infrastructure and Transport

Eichler Earthmovers was engaged by the South Australian Department for Infrastructure and Transport (DIT) to deliver survey-driven remediation and reconstruction works along multiple sections of the River Murray levee network at Cowirra and Neeta. The works extended across approximately 5.3 km of linear embankment alignment, incorporating both full reconstruction zones and targeted strengthening treatments.

The project involved selective excavation to formation level, placement and compaction of engineered fill and construction of stabilised levee sections with typical crest widths of approximately 3.5 m and batter slopes formed to design profiles. Treatment areas varied in depth and extent, with individual remediation sections requiring controlled fill placement volumes identified through survey heat-mapping and indicative volume modelling.

Works were undertaken within constrained riverbank environments requiring progressive construction sequencing, establishment of temporary access tracks and careful management of plant loading to maintain levee stability during construction. The scope incorporated a combination of minor localised embankment reinstatement, capping layer installation and full embankment reconstruction to restore flood protection capacity across the alignment.

The successful delivery of this project demonstrates Eichler Earthmovers’ capability in delivering large-scale linear earthworks exceeding 5 km in length, technically specified embankment construction and flood mitigation infrastructure under live environmental and programme constraints.

LITTLEHAMPTON SUBDIVISION

LITTLEHAMPTON RESIDENTIAL SUBDIVISION – CIVIL INFRASTRUCTURE WORKS

Eichler Earthmovers delivered the civil construction package for a greenfield residential land division at Littlehampton, comprising bulk earthworks, road construction, and stormwater infrastructure installation.

The works included construction of approximately 1 km of new internal road network, incorporating subgrade preparation, imported fill placement, pavement construction, and tie-ins to existing road infrastructure. Significant cut-to-fill operations were undertaken to form subdivision platforms, batters, and drainage corridors in accordance with the approved earthworks design.

Stormwater scope included installation of underground pipe networks, pits, and culvert structures together with construction of a detention basin and outlet system to manage site runoff. The project also involved erosion and sediment control implementation, traffic management for road interfaces and coordination with service authorities and design consultants.

The successful delivery of this project demonstrates Eichler Earthmovers’ capability in delivering technically specified residential subdivision infrastructure from bulk earthworks through to completed civil works.

TOTNESS

TOTNESS EMPLYMENT LANDS – CIVIL INFRASTRUCTURE (STAGE 2)

Eichler Earthmovers delivered major civil earthworks and infrastructure construction for Stage 2 of the Totness Employment Lands development at Mount Barker on behalf of Adelin Holdings.

The works involved large-scale bulk earthworks operations across the development footprint, including cut-to-fill balancing, site platform construction, and formation of development pads in accordance with the approved earthworks design. The project also incorporated construction of new internal roads, stormwater drainage systems, and service corridors to support future industrial land release.

A key component of the works included creek realignment and construction of engineered drainage infrastructure, together with installation of off-site cut-off drains to manage upstream catchment flows and protect the development from overland flooding.

Construction was delivered in staged sequences requiring haul road establishment, stockpile management and detailed trimming of pavement and service corridors. The successful delivery of this project demonstrates Eichler Earthmovers’ capability in undertaking complex bulk earthworks and civil infrastructure works for large-scale employment and industrial land developments.

CAMBRAI DUMP

Cambrai Landfill Cell Construction – Mid Murray Council

Eichler Earthmovers delivered construction works for a new engineered landfill cell and associated leachate management infrastructure at the Mid Murray Council Cambrai Waste Management Facility. The project involved bulk excavation and formation of Landfill Cell 2 including perimeter bund construction, subgrade preparation, and placement of compacted clay liner systems to achieve specified environmental containment requirements. The works incorporated construction of internal access ramps and shaping of batters typically formed at approximately 3H:1V slopes in accordance with design profiles.

A key component of the project included installation of leachate collection infrastructure, comprising perforated drainage pipework, leachate aggregate layers, sump construction, and development of an adjoining leachate pond to manage waste cell drainage. The works required detailed set-out control, staged excavation and trimming to achieve designed floor grades and crest levels.

Construction was undertaken within an operational landfill environment requiring controlled sequencing of earthworks, environmental management, and integration with existing waste cells. The successful delivery of this project demonstrates Eichler Earthmovers’ capability in undertaking technically specified earthworks, environmental containment construction, and municipal infrastructure projects.

TOLDEROL

Tolderol Game Reserve Wetland Basin Levelling – Department for Environment and Water (DEW)

Eichler Earthmovers delivered specialist environmental earthworks for wetland habitat enhancement at Tolderol Game Reserve on behalf of the Department for Environment and Water.

The works involved precision basin levelling across multiple wetland bays totalling approximately 12.5 hectares, including trimming of high points to nominated target surface levels ranging between approximately 0.62 m and 0.95 m AHD to improve water distribution and shorebird foraging habitat. The project incorporated controlled excavation of approximately 10,000 m³ of material, which was redistributed within each basin to achieve design floodplain profiles.

Additional works included remediation and decommissioning of internal banks and irrigation channels, including backfilling of up to 350 metres of channel sections and reinstatement of natural surface levels to improve hydraulic connectivity across the wetland system.

Construction was undertaken within environmentally sensitive and low-bearing ground conditions requiring staged access planning, survey control and careful selection of plant and construction methodologies. The successful delivery of these works demonstrates Eichler Earthmovers’ capability in delivering technically specified environmental earthworks, wetland rehabilitation, and large-area precision trimming works.

TWO WELLS

Two Wells Residential Land Division – Liberty Stages 7 & 8

Eichler Earthmovers delivered bulk earthworks and civil infrastructure construction for residential land division works at the Liberty development in Two Wells for Hickinbotham Developments, supporting the creation of approximately 72 allotments in Stage 7 and 46 allotments in Stage 8.
